designing your wall planking

Wall planks are fitted quite randomly but there are a few rules of thumb that you may find useful:
Frame smaller planks with larger planks.
The most commonly used sizes are 3”, 4” and 5” and these would usually break down into 1/2 at 5” with a 1/4 each of 4” and 3”. A larger plank is sometimes also used as a central piece.
Planks can also be used as skirting as part of the overall effect.
Planks can run to full wall height, or up to a plate rail, or up to a dado rail type height.

A few layout options:
Below are a few common layout options. Planks are usually fitted fairly randomly, but generally proportions would be around half would be 5" and a quarter each at 4" and 3", with larger planks framing smaller ones. Larger 6" and 7" planks are sometimes used as main vertical or horizontal sections. If you need any help with your design, please call us on 0121 449 8525.
