Coving Covers
Removing old plaster or trying to repair damaged plaster coving is a messy job and it is very difficult to remove the coving. It can often result in the walls and ceilings being damaged during the removal which can make an even larger project of trying to replace old coving.
Our coving covers have been designed to remove all the hassle, they have a large void behind the profile which means that your coving can be covered entirely without the need for touching the existing coving. This makes it much easier and also it is more cost effective especially once the labour costs are taken into account.
Choosing the right profile
Measure the existing cornice by measuring how far the coving goes across the ceiling (projection) and how far down the wall (height). Then choose a profile which is larger than those dimensions.
Then we would recommend ordering a sample of our coving so you can place it over the top and make sure that it will cover your existing coving.
You can also contact us if you need any help choosing the right profile, we would recommend sending in a photo with dimensions of your existing coving so we can help you.
Lightweight and Easy to Paint
Our coving covers are made from a high-grade polymer material which is very lightweight and durable which makes it easy to cut and handle and installation is just with adhesives which makes it very easy.
They are also supplied pre-primed white which means that painting them is easy with a good quality branded paint. Our coving has a smooth consistent finish with crisp detail compared with plaster.
FAQs:
Can you put new coving over old coving?
Yes, our lightweight coving covers have a large void on the back of the profile for going over your existing coving. It doesn`t matter what the existing coving material is, as long as it is secured in place and not loose then it should work perfectly. Make sure to order a sample before ordering to make sure that the coving will sufficiently cover the old coving.
Do I need to remove damaged coving first?
We would recommend you remove any loose coving which is likely to fall down as the weight could pull down the coving cover if not securely fixed. If the coving has got chips and dents then there is no need to repair these as the coving will cover over the top anyway.
Are coving covers easy to paint?
Yes they are very easy to paint it as they are supplied pre-primed so no preparation required, simply paint using brush, roller or spray using a good quality water-based branded paint.
Is it ok if the new coving is fixed directly onto the old coving?
yes this is fine, as long at the old coving is sound and doesn’t have paint flaking off or isnt secured properly as you want to make sure that the adhesive will properly attach to the old coving.
