Our Polystyrene Coving is very lightweight and easy to handle, and is an affordable alternative to plaster coving. It is easy to install and ideal if you want to add coving to your room for that quality look when on a tight budget. This range is one of our most popular ranges due to the excellent value for money.

How come it is such good value?- Because the material it is made from is a low density polystyrene which has a simple manufacturing process and not as dense as our other mouldings. But it is important to note that our budget polystyrene coving doesn`t look bobbly like traditional polystyrene coving and it comes pre-primed so ready to paint.

Budget Polystyrene Coving

Budget polystyrene coving & cornice may not boast the same sharp lines as other ranges, but for something cheap, lightweight and easy to install, it’s hard to beat.

Our range is all linear styles and we have small, medium and large coving to suit a wide range of room sizes and ceiling heights. Styles include Stepped art deco coving, curved “C” shape, Ogee “S” shape coving. This fits a wide range of interior styles and is perfect for bedrooms, lounges, hallways.

What does Polystyrene Coving look like?

Polystyrene coving is sometimes associated with the bobbly polystyrene coving which has a textured surface and was very soft. Our polystyrene coving is a lot denser and is extruded and has a smooth pre-primed surface so no bobbly texture. It is not as dense as our other high-grade polymer mouldings and so it should be handled with care, if you were to press your fingernail into the product it would leave a dent. The detail isn`t as sharp as our other ranges so the corners will be slightly rounded.

Choosing the right coving:

We measure our coving, height down the wall and projection across the ceiling. As a general guide the taller the ceiling the larger the coving. Please use the filters on the product page and select your ceiling height and it will suggest the right sized profiles for your room.

For the different styles of coving, the choice is down to personal preference and we strongly recommend ordering a sample before ordering so you can see what it looks like. Typically, if you have an Ogee/Torus skirting board then our Ogee “S” shaped coving would work best. If you have simple square skirting and architrave then the simple “C” shape coving would work well. Stepped coving works well in art deco styles or modern style homes with clean sharp lines. Our linear coving is more universal and works well with most interior styles.

Please note: There is a minimum order quantity of 10 lengths on all budget polystyrene coving.

Can you tell the difference between polystyrene coving and high-grade polymer coving?

The difference will be difficult to tell once installed. It won`t have sharp detailing and the paint finish may not be as consistent as our High-Grade Polymer coving. When cutting polystyrene coving during installation, it can splinter when cutting unlike our High-Grade polymer coving which cuts very cleanly.
