What is LED Coving?
LED coving is a decorative architectural feature which has been designed to conceal an LED Strip or LED Aluminium trough put behind shining the light up on the ceiling, this has become a popular fashion over recent years as it can really accentuate the size of any room.
What is It made from?
Our LED Coving is made from High Grade polymers such as Polyurethane and High-Density Polystyrene which means it is lightweight and no visible joins when using the Fix Ultra jointing adhesive. There are a few LED cornices which are made from a less dense material which means that the light may shine through the profile, in these instances, you will need to use reflection tape or aluminium foil to prevent the light shining through – it will say on the product description if this is required. For all others however, the light won`t shine through making installation very simple.
How does LED coving work?
Unlike traditional coving, LED Coving has been designed so that LED Tape or Aluminium trough can be concealed behind it as the coving provides a Ledge to rest the Indirect Lighting on. Installation of LED lights are to be carried out by a Qualified Electrician.
P.S LED Uplight Cornices 1 & 2 have steps moulded periodically inside them, to rest an LED strip on. Tape needs to be mounted onto something solid to rest on these steps.
Do the LED lights come with the product?
No, we supply the product without any electrical lighting tape or aluminium trough. To purchase the LEDs, you would need to get in contact with an Electrical store or your Electrician.
How far down the wall should I place the LED coving?
Its really up to you to see what you think is best, and if you were to purchase samples, this would help you decide. Typically, the optimum distance down from the ceiling to place the LED coving is 14cm. This leaves a gap of 14cm for the light to shine into the room. The Lower you place the cornice, the more the light will shine into the room.
What are the Advantages and Disadvantages of LED Coving?
Advantages of LED Coving:

Disadvantages:
- Initial Cost can be higher than traditional coving due to the Lighting requirement but once installed it will provide much more value than traditional style coving.
- In most instances, Indirect LED coving won`t replace Direct Lighting meaning you are likely to require both Direct and Indirect lighting to be sufficient.
How To Size Your Cornice
The sizes we show under each profile are height, which is how far the cornice extends down the wall from the ceiling, and projection, which is how far it extends out from the wall.
An average sized cornice would range from about 7cm x 7cm to 12cm x 12cm. However, for a minimalist, contemporary feel, smaller sizes are very popular with LED Lighting cornice.
