How to make skirting look taller?
Adding extra mouldings on top of your skirting boards is a cost effective and simple way of making your skirtings look taller than they really are. It also adds that bespoke feeling with the skirtings as you determine how tall you want to have the skirting.
Our Combinations work by using two or more profiles. The Skirting Board is taken from our Skirting Range, and the Mouldings on top are from our Panel Mouldings range. then you choose how much space to leave between them.
Paint the skirting board, the wall and the mouldings all the same colour and then ideally in a different colour to the rest of the wall to make the skirting stand out and look as though it is one large skirting board.

How are Skirting Combinations installed?
Install the Main Skirting Board first, then install the mouldings above it, you can have multiple layers of mouldings on top. You will then need to decide how much space to leave between the skirting and the panel moulding.
Pro Tip: Cut a piece of wood to the desired width of the space between the profiles and then use this to mark out the right level for the moulding going off the top of the skirting. This ensure that you have the same sized gap all the way around the room to ensure it looks neat and consistent.
Installation would be with our quick grabbing adhesives which mean you don’t have to hold it in position or pin it, making installation very simple for DIYers.
Adding Mouldings to existing skirting
If you have got existing skirting boards which you wish to keep but are wanting to increase their height, then we recommend adding a panel moulding profile. This can be spaced out above or simply resting on the skirting boards. This is a great, cost effective way of adding detail to your skirting boards without having to remove the old ones.

Can I choose the finished height?
Yes. The overall height depends on the profiles you select and how much space you leave between them. This allows the design to be adjusted to suit the proportions of your room.
Can they be painted?
Yes certainly, our skirting and mouldings are all suppled pre-primed which makes installation much easier as no preparation required.
What colour paint works best?
Contrasting colours work best for skirtings with mouldings added on top as this makes the skirting look like its one piece rather than mouldings obviously added to the skirting.
Creating Your Unique Feature
Combinations create a deep, dramatic skirting by combining skirting and railing profiles to extend the feature up your wall. Products are spaced apart. You paint the mouldings, and wall space between them, the same colour, to visually combine all elements into one feature. You choose the profiles (we have some suggestions below), and how far apart you space them, to create your own unique feature.
