What’s included in a door surround kit?
Generally speaking each kit comprises of a pediment (across the top of the door) then 2 x architraves (on both sides) and Feet or Plinth Blocks (which is where the architraves sit on top of and you can but your skirting up to). Some kits also include corner blocks or rosettes which are really useful as they add extra character but also mean you don`t have to cut any mitre angles.
Can I paint the door surrounds?
Yes, each kit is supplied pre-primed and ready to paint making finishing very easy. We would recommend a water-based paint for the best finish.
Are they suitable for bathrooms?
Yes, unlike other materials. Our high-grade polymer is totally resistant to water and humidity so it is the perfect options for bathrooms.
Are they easier to install than plaster surrounds?
Our products are much lighter than plaster making them much easier to install and cut. Also it is installed using just adhesives which makes it easier too.
Does it need to match the existing skirting?
No not particularly, The Door Surrounds with the plinth blocks are best because they mean that they can work with a wider variety of skirtings, the plinth block provides a clean break between the skirting and architrave so a design difference isn`t very noticeable.
Will the door surround kit work around double doors?
Yes, if you have got large doorways like double doors or French doors then sometimes our mouldings are not long enough to sufficiently cover the door. Please get in contact with us as all the individual components are available and the kits can be added to to accommodate any size door.
Can I convert the kit so it has an apex top?
Yes, whilst our door surround kits don’t come with apex top as standard, extra pediments can be purchased and then cut to the correct angle to achieve the apex top. This is a stunning feature, often used externally, but can be used internally too. Please contact us to make sure you order the right pediment.
